Attention Johnson Families, This is a reminder that our Turkey Trot donations should be turned in tomorrow! Any checks can be made payable to the Johnson PTO and all cash should be sent in an envelope. Please label the envelope with your child's name and classroom teacher's name. The PTO will be rewarding the top earning class with a silly string battle against Dr. Ayla and Mrs. Valdez! All students will participate in this walk during the school day next week and will be given a running bib, as well as a snack and drink from the PTO. Donations will be used towards bringing two building-wide assemblies to Johnson this school year! Thank you for your continued support!

Principal Appreciation Day: This annual recognition was first approved by Illinois' Governor in 1990. We took pictures of our principals at our 41 schools & asked students to draw them for us. Here are some of their works of art. Thank you all RPS 205 Principals!

Dear Parents and Guardians, On Thursday, October 10th, Johnson Elementary will have a lockdown drill. Just as we practice drills for weather and fire related safety, we also practice how to respond in the event of an intruder. It is important for students and staff to be familiar with the process, procedures, and routines. With each drill, we learn ways to refine and improve our safety plans. We have invited an SRO with Rockford Police Department, to participate in our drill. We look forward to receiving valuable feedback from him to strengthen our plan. Each classroom teacher will talk with his/her class about the lockdown drill prior to it occurring. The teacher will emphasize that this is only a drill and that there is no reason for concern at this time. They will explain the importance of practicing these drills so we are prepared in the event of a real emergency. Please consider talking with your student at home about this drill, so they feel comfortable and secure. The safety and security of our students and staff is of utmost importance. We will continue to partner with Rockford Police Department as we revisit our procedures and routines to refine our safety plans. Thank you for taking the time to talk with your student. If you do not want your child to participate in the drill, please let Ms. Trish know in the main office and your student's teacher. There is an opt-out form that we will have you complete. To celebrate National School Lunch Week, RPS 205 is holding a contest to see who can make the most creative chicken sandwich. The students who create winning chicken sandwiches will win an iPad and their sandwiches will be featured on the menu in the Spring Semester! Please turn in your work of art to the kitchen team in your school's cafeteria between October 14-18. We can't wait to see the delicious combinations you draw up!
